Lithuanian Borscht

Add the shredded cabbage, tomato paste, salt, and black pepper to the pot and stir again. Pour in the water and bring the soup to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and let the soup simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
