Classic Vanilla Macaroons
Classic Vanilla Macaroons are a delightful French pastry that is perfect for any occasion. These sweet and chewy treats are made with almond flour, egg whites, and sugar, and are flavored with vanilla extract. They are gluten-free and can be enjoyed by anyone who loves a good dessert.
To make Classic Vanilla Macaroons, you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
This recipe makes about 20-24 macaroons.
To start, preheat your oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, sift together the almond flour and powdered sugar. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until they form stiff peaks. Gradually add the granulated sugar and continue to beat until the mixture is glossy and forms stiff peaks again. Add the vanilla extract and beat for another 30 seconds.
Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the almond flour mixture into the egg white mixture until fully combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can cause the macaroons to become flat. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
Tap the baking sheet on a flat surface a few times to release any air bubbles. Let the macaroons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to form a skin on the surface. This will help them to rise evenly in the oven.
Bake the macaroons for 15-18 minutes, or until they are set and have a slight golden color. Let them cool completely on the baking sheet before removing them.
Classic Vanilla Macaroons are a beautiful and elegant dessert that are sure to impress your guests. They have a crisp exterior and a soft, chewy interior, with a delicate vanilla flavor. Serve them with a cup of tea or coffee for a perfect afternoon treat.
