- 1 block of firm tofu (14 oz)
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of soy milk
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1 tbsp of cornstarch
- 1/4 cup of water
Cooking Tips:
- Use a blender or food processor to blend the tofu until it's smooth and creamy.
- Make sure to use firm tofu, as it will hold its shape better than soft or silken tofu.
- You can use any type of milk you prefer, but soy milk works best for this recipe.
- To make the caramel sauce, heat the sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until it melts and turns golden brown. Be careful not to burn it!
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2. In a blender or food processor, blend the tofu, sugar, soy milk, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
3. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and water until well combined.
4. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the tofu mixture and blend until smooth.
5. Pour the mixture into four ramekins or custard cups.
6. Place the ramekins in a baking dish and fill the dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the flans are set and slightly golden on top.
8. Remove the ramekins from the baking dish and let them cool to room temperature.
9. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the ramekins to loosen the flans. Invert each ramekin onto a plate to release the flan.
