Ingredients (makes 12 macarons):

For the macaron shells:

- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup almond flour
- 2 large egg whites, room temperature
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/4 tsp salt

For the salted caramel filling:

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup crushed pretzels
Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 300°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, sift together the powdered sugar and almond flour. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy. Add the cream of tartar and salt and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
4. Gradually add the granulated sugar to the egg whites, one tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
5. Gently fold the almond flour mixture into the egg whites until fully combined.
6. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe 1-inch circles onto the prepared baking sheet.
7. Tap the baking sheet on a flat surface to release any air bubbles and let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
8. Bake the macarons for 15-18 minutes, or until they are set and have formed a "foot" around the edges.
9. While the macarons are baking, make the salted caramel filling. In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar and water and cook over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
10. Increase the heat to high and cook the sugar mixture, without stirring, until it turns a deep amber color.
11. Remove the saucepan from the heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream, butter, and salt until fully combined.
12. Let the caramel cool for a few minutes, then stir in the crushed pretzels.
13. Once the macarons have cooled, pipe the salted caramel filling onto half of the macaron shells and top with the remaining shells.
14. Serve and enjoy!
